We are looking for North Carolinians who can share a personal story on how they have been impacted by the interlocking issues listed below and also lift up our demands as a movement. On March 2, 2024, we want to show North Carolina the depth of pain immoral policies at the NC General Assembly are causing us, and to show the resilience and strength of our movements.
Submitting this form for yourself or for someone else does not guarantee a speaking part on March 2. Organizers will confirm with testifiers directly their participation.
Testifiers should be prepared to submit a draft of their written remarks by Monday, Feb. 26 and have roughly 2 minutes in mind when speaking. A speaker prep team will work with testifiers to finalize their remarks ahead of the program. Here are some of the focus areas for March 2nd:
- Abolishing poverty as the 4th leading cause of death in the US
- Living wages
- Full voting rights
- End voter suppression
- Worker’s rights & labor rights
- Healthcare for all
- Affordable, adequate housing
- Equal rights for all
- An end to gun violence, profit & proliferation
- Clean air & water
- Environmental justice
- Fully-funded public education
- Just immigration laws
- An end to systemic racism, white supremacy & extremist political agendas
- Activate the 85 million poor and low-income voters in the nation
