Over six months, four groups of people will come together to form the Study Track of PACA's Study Circles program. Through collective study, each group will explore how cooperative enterprise in the Philadelphia area can be used to create, steward, or support more equitable economic impacts from our public and community spaces, such as parks, plazas, greenways, streetscapes, community gardens and farms, and community centers.
These groups will meet twice a month for six months in Study Circles, a method rooted in African American and Philadelphia cooperative history. Each group will choose materials and resources like books, articles, oral histories, videos, field trips, etc. to study cooperative histories and the values that inform cooperation. Through study, reflection, and discussion, each group will identify an unmet need related to public and/or community spaces in their communities and use six months of study to create a shared vision of how cooperative enterprise can address those needs.
While not a requirement for participation, groups that emerge from the Study Track with a cooperative enterprise or business idea can continue into our Build Track to access training, business advice, and financing through PACA’s network. We are asking primary contacts for all applicant groups to complete the full application below.
