Stop Financing the Mountain Valley Pipeline! October month of solidarity interest form

The movement to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline needs your support. The MVP is tearing into our mountains and destroying our homes. Our community is grieving and enraged. But we believe that through strategy action targeting banks and investors and monitoring of the route, we can defeat this doomed project. Here are three ways you can help us, depending on your location.

1. For National organizers (outside of WV, & VA):

Organize a #DefundMVP bank teach-in action near you during the month of October. Following the passage of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, the #StopMVP movement lost its legislative and judicial means of stopping the project. The movement is now focusing energy on building up its financial campaign to #DefundMVP, including by advocating for the top banks behind the project (Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, PNC & BNP Paribas) to pull out. We need your support to share information with your community about the money behind this disastrous project in order to prepare for calls to action coming soon!

2. For regional organizers (In VA,WV)

Organize a stream watch training near you and recruit people to visit the pipeline route for a week or two to help community members monitor construction. We need more people to help us monitor construction! You can help us by training up members of your community, who will need these skills as fossil fuel buildout continues across the country and climate change intensifies.

3. Locals (near the pipeline route)

Attend West Virginia Rivers’ stream watch training on 10/21 and POWHR’s community day on 10/22! RSVP for the community day here: https://actionnetwork.org/events/stopmvp-community-day/
