Defend RGGI Public Comment Writing Party

Start: 2023-03-01 18:30:00 UTC Eastern Standard Time (US & Canada) (GMT-05:00)

This is a virtual event

Governor Glenn Youngkin continues his attacks on Virginia’s climate progress. He stacked the Air Pollution Control Board with 4 appointees. They ALL VOTED TO REMOVE VIRGINIA FROM RGGI.

Virginia has already received over $523 million from RGGI. But Governor Youngkin's scheme puts us at risk of losing vital funds to prevent flooding and would throw our state's carbon cap-and-trade market into chaos. Now the decision to leave RGGI is up for public comment and we need YOUR voice!

We’re hosting this virtual comment-writing party to make sure Virginians like YOU are heard. Join CCAN and fellow climate activists on Wednesday March 1 at 6:30 PM. RSVP today!

Meeting agenda:

  • 5 mins intros

  • 15 mins policy presentation and Q&A -- including Megan Root and McKenzie Brocker, who work for the city of Roanoke on climate adaptation and sustainability. They will share what RGGI funding can mean for their part of Virginia.

  • 10 mins how to write a comment and navigate Townhall -- Hunter Noffsinger

  • 20 mins breakout session

  • 5 mins wrap up

This is a collaboration with CCAN, the League of Conservation Voters, Nature Forward, and Appalachian Voices.
