ACTION ALERT: Support Cannabis Users' Parental Rights in California

State agencies have often been slow to accept cannabis legalization or adopt regulations in keeping with state law and the will of the voters. In the case of juvenile custody, this has sometimes had the tragic effect of interfering with responsible cannabis users’ parental rights, and needlessly separating children from their parents.

AB 2595 would require the State Department of Social Services to update all regulations and other instructions to ensure that, when a social worker is investigating an alleged case of child abuse or neglect, a parent or guardian’s use or possession of cannabis is treated in the same manner as a parent or guardian’s use or possession of alcohol and legally prescribed medication.

AB 2595 has passed through the Assembly and Senate. PLEASE WRITE TO GOVERNOR NEWSOM IN SUPPORT OF AB 2595.
