Social Housing. Climate Action.
Connected Communities.
Our Mission
House Our Neighbors envisions a future where all people can afford to live and thrive in vibrant, cohesive, and climate resilient communities. To achieve this, we develop, advocate, and mobilize for policy to realize social housing for the residents of Seattle and beyond.
Yes on I-137: Let’s Build Social Housing
In February 2024, House Our Neighbors filed Initiative 137 to create an excess compensation payroll tax to fund the Seattle Social Housing Developer. Visit our campaign website to learn more about the initiative and how to get involved!
Our Work
Social Housing
Social housing is removed from market speculation, available to all incomes, permanently affordable and held as a public good in perpetuity.
Climate Action
Across the world, buildings account for 35% of total global energy consumption. Changing the way we build housing is a crucial step towards addressing climate emergency. This is a major reason we included a passivhaus mandate in the I-135 initiative.
Connected Communities
HON participates in the steering committee of the Complete Communities Coalition. We advocate for the end of exclusionary zoning practices, which have for decades prohibited the building of urgently needed multifamily housing to address our housing crisis. We envision dense, walkable cities where services and necessities are easily accessible to all regardless of their mode of transportation.
