FREEDOM FROM PRISON FOR ED POINDEXTER—NOW!

Ed’s Story: In April of 1971, Edward Poindexter and Mondo we Langa, (AKA David Rice) were erroneously sentenced to life in prison.   Charged with the death of an Omaha police officer- both men had witnesses who testified that they were nowhere near the bombing where the officer died.   The Prosecutors admitted that the men had alibi’s, but then claimed that Rice and Poindexter were in  conspiracy with others.   In the midst of the cultural wars over racism--the nearly all white jury found them guilty.

Today, 50 years later, Mondo has died in prison, while Ed is still in prison and still maintains his innocence. Ed has earned several college degrees, wrote courses for and taught anti-violence classes to youth, and served as a role model to other prisoners. His last chance for freedom is to receive a commutation of sentence from the Nebraska Board of Pardons. At age 75, he is at high risk for COVID related health complications.

He must receive an immediate and expedited commutation hearing from the Nebraska Pardon’s Board.

SIGN PETITION:

I support Ed Poindexter, a US Military Veteran, and demand his release from prison immediately!

I insist on justice which after 50 years of incarceration for Ed means:

1.       The Pardons Board expediting Ed’s application to be heard this Fall 2020.

2.       The Pardons Board’s COMMUTATION OF ED’S SENTENCE FROM LIFE --TO: TIME SERVED!
