So much has been achieved these last four years in Augusta: funding schools at 55 percent; giving 90,000 Mainers access to affordable health care; Maine emerging as a leader in dealing with and preparing for the effects of climate change; addressing “forever chemicals” (PFAS) contamination, and more. This is because Gov. Mills, a Democrat, believes in collaboration, not confrontation.
In contrast, former Republican Sen. Roger Katz, who served in the Legislature when Paul LePage was governor, told the Maine Monitor that LePage left “a legacy of missed opportunities” and was “unable … to sit down with well-meaning people … and listen and compromise.”
What do we want to wake up to over the next four years? News of progress addressing real problems Mainers deal with every day, or culture war battles meant to distract you from the failed and/or nonexistent policies of the Republican Party?
The challenges we face are daunting. We need a governor focused on moving Maine forward. Please vote Mills.
