I won’t abandon Labour’s ambitions for industry – nor fiscal responsibility

The Times

The prime minister’s trip to the US this week made the limits of his ambition for Britain clear.

This was an opportunity to learn real lessons from how President Biden is transforming the US economy. A moment to show he understands that 13 years of a failed trickle-down approach have led to slow growth, low productivity, and many parts of Britain becoming poorer than their counterparts across Europe. Instead, we were handed more of the same, with no plan to give Britain’s towns and cities the hope for the future they deserve.

Labour’s mission is to secure the highest sustained growth in the G7, with good jobs and productivity growth in all parts of the country – all built on the rock of economic stability.
