Our economic recovery relies on getting people into work

With our economy rebounding and vacancies at a record-high, job centres across the country are helping people move back into work faster than ever before.

With 150 new job centres and youth hubs opening last week, we’re putting the infrastructure in place to support our Way to Work campaign, which will see half a million people move into jobs by the end of June.

New rules for jobseekers on unemployment benefits mean that if someone cannot find a job in their previous line of work, they are now required to search more widely for roles and sectors much earlier – from the fourth week of their claim rather than from three months, as was the case before.
