Labour to return £100k donation from finance boss sued for harassment

The Labour Party is to return £100,000 in donations from a finance boss who commented on the size of a female colleague’s breasts.

Davide Serra, founder of Algebris Investments, the global asset manager, was ordered by an employment tribunal last month to pay £32,000 to Jolanda Niccolini, a former employee.

Serra, who donated previously to the Liberal Democrats and the Tories, switched to Labour this year, making four £25,000 donations in February.

An employment tribunal found claims of harassment related to sex levelled at Serra had been upheld. It is understood the party had not been aware of the tribunal proceedings and after being alerted to the case by The Times the donation will be returned.
