Eight powerful politicians have been selected to fill East Staffordshire's top cabinet jobs after Labour's sensational election win. The Conservatives' long rule over the borough council was ended by Labour's crushing victory less than two weeks ago.

And now, after a series of behind-closed-doors meetings and negotiations, East Staffordshire Borough Council's first Labour cabinet in decades has been announced.

The party has confirmed Mick Fitzpatrick, leader of the Labour group, will take up the role of leader of the council. He will be joined by five other cabinet members as well as two cabinet support members.
