About this event

Workshop Co-created and co-facilitated by Channie Waites, Charon Hribar, Jamel Coy Hudson and Daniel Blake.

The New York State Poor People’s Campaign Art & Culture Committee will present a workshop entitled Songs In the Key of Resistance based around a set of movement songs from the PPC’s “Movement Songbook”.. During the 90-minute workshop participants will learn about how songs inform and energize movement work, and how movement songs can help to build an effective organizing campaign.

In addition to April 22, the NY State PPC will also host a statewide community call on Zoom for NYU students on Monday April 3 at 5pm. On this virtual session, NYU students and community members will convene to discuss the work of the Poor People’s Campaign and its relationship to other movements happening in New York City. Students will be invited to learn a song, share their own organizing work, and learn more about how song-leading can play a role in planning an action.
