How to Contact Your Members of Congress Directly

Want to make your voice heard in Congress without going to Capitol Hill? Here are our top tactics for getting in front of your U.S. senators and representatives — in person, in writing, and over the phone.

Key Times to Speak Up to Your Elected Officials

A few times each year, Congress goes on break from their work in Washington, D.C. During this “recess,” members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate head to their home states to answer to voters and meet them face-to-face.

This is a great time to hold your congressperson accountable for their stance on abortion rights — in person. At parades, town halls, and other public appearances, it’s time to remind lawmakers and the country: WE WON’T BACK DOWN.

It's Time to Hold Congresspeople Accountable

In June 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — stripping millions of Americans of the right to abortion. This is the culmination of a 50-year crusade to end safe and legal abortion.

Lawmakers hostile to sexual and reproductive health have made it clear that they intend to take away more of our rights, including access to contraceptives and same-sex marriage.

With our freedoms on the line, NOW is the time to hold elected officials accountable for restricting or banning access to abortion and other human rights.

That’s where you come in.

Abortion bans and the politicians pushing them are out of step with the 80% of Americans who want abortion to be legal.

Abortion and birth control must be protected. Access to essential health services must be restored.
