NEW YORK – A tentative agreement has been reached between 600 members of the Transit Workers Union and Metro-North Railroad, officials announced on Friday.

The pact affects train mechanics, inspectors, cleaners and cabinet makers and runs from September 1, 2019 to October 30, 2023.

The TWU said associated union members will receive a 9.5 percent wage increase.

Negotiations had been ongoing for some time with the union threatening a strike if no settlement was reached.

“I am committed to providing the best possible service to Metro-North riders and I am pleased that the Transport Workers Union and the MTA have reached a tentative agreement that allows this critical service to keep moving forward,” Governor Hochul said in a prepared statement.
