Groundbreaking New York Advanced Technology Framework Announcement
The AFT, New York State United Teachers, United Federation of Teachers, Micron, and Governor Hochul have collaborated to create an Advanced Technology Framework rooted in semiconductor industry skills, developed with educators and Micron. This framework incorporates industry-based career exploration, fostering deeper learning in students through critical analysis and practical application of knowledge. The groundbreaking initiative involves extensive collaboration among schools, teachers, unions, workforce development, and industry to offer tangible solutions for students and communities. Piloted in 10 school districts and BOCES over three years from fall 2024, the plan aims to subsequently expand the Advanced Technology Framework across New York, boosting student interest in the semiconductor industry and promoting workforce development. Micron and the state of New York will invest millions of dollars in this three-year pilot, reinforcing educational opportunities and preparing students for careers, college, and life. #RealSolutionsForKids
