At the July 2023 CWA Convention, delegates took an important step toward building a more inclusive union by adopting Resolution 79A-23-08. This resolution underscores CWA’s commitment to ensuring every member and retiree can fully participate in CWA meetings and events by improving accessibility for all.

A key step in creating more inclusive spaces is understanding the barriers and solutions experienced by CWA members and retirees, including those with physical, sensory, cognitive, psychological, or learning differences or disabilities. To better understand and address CWA members' and retirees’ accessibility needs, we’ve created this brief survey to tap into our greatest resource: your collective wisdom. This survey is just the beginning of what we hope to accomplish with your help.

Whether you’ve faced barriers while attending CWA meetings and events in the past, have been unable to attend due to accessibility concerns, or have never participated in an event before but want to be able to take advantage of all the union has to offer, we want to hear and learn from you. Your thoughts, experiences, challenges, and solutions are crucial to helping us create meetings, conferences, and events where everyone can fully participate.

The term ‘accessibility’ in the context of this survey refers to ways in which any CWA member or retiree, regardless of physical, cognitive, psychological, and/or learning differences or disabilities, can more easily use, participate in, and avail themselves of proceedings, information, and services at CWA events fully, equally, and as independently as someone without those differences or disabilities.

An ‘accommodation’ in the context of this survey is something that may be requested to make your participation or experience at CWA events more accessible and positive for you or another member, retiree, or guest.

This survey has nine questions. Every question is optional. On average, the survey should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete, but it could take longer the more information you choose to share. Some of the questions are open-ended with free text boxes and some of the questions have a combination box where you can select an answer as well as enter text. The survey is anonymous unless you choose to provide your contact information at the end.

At the very top of the following page is a Save and Continue button which allows you to save your survey if you cannot complete it all at once. There is also a "low vision mode" button on each page which will increase the size of the text and make it bold.

Please click the ‘Next’ button at the bottom of this page to start the survey. The ‘Next’ button may read as a down arrow with certain screen readers.
