Inequality Media Civic Action

Fund the Fight to Reinstate the AP and Protect Press Freedom Now!

Donald Trump has made it clear that his administration wants total control over the media. By barring The Associated Press (AP) from White House events, Trump is sending a chilling message: independent journalism is unwelcome.

The reason? AP refused to comply with the administration’s demand to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” which is a propaganda move straight out of an authoritarian playbook. When AP stood its ground, the White House retaliated by blocking its reporters from the Oval Office, Air Force One, and critical press briefings.

This is an outright attack on the First Amendment. The press exists to hold those in power accountable, not to serve as mouthpieces for government propaganda. When a president starts dictating what the media can and cannot say, democracy itself is in danger.

AP has filed a lawsuit to challenge this unconstitutional ban, but we can’t wait for the courts to act.
