Computer Printing Technician

Based in Upper Marlboro, MD

 

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is a trade union representing 600,000 active and retired members in the aerospace, defense, airline, manufacturing, transportation, woodworking, healthcare and other industries in North America.

The IAM seeks a Computer Printing Technician at IAM Headquarters in Upper Marlboro MD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate printing, cutting, binding, and stuffing machines to create IAM materials.
  • Utilize production, printing, and mailing software to execute mailings.
  • Communicate with Headquarters employees, Field Offices and the IAM Education Center regarding printing needs.
  • Assist with daily incoming mail.
  • Assist other Duplicating Department employees in their duties as needed.
  • Other essential duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have Professional Fiery Certification.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with printer systems such as: Colormax, Rena, Ricoh, Roland VSI, and Mimaki JFX200 Printer preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with production machines such as: Aerocut, Sterling Digibinder, Titan Cutter, Table Top Folder, PS 1000 Stuffing Machine, Hasler Mail Machine, Cannon Production, James Burn Coil Inserter, and Duplo DC 648 preferred.
  • Knowledge and/ or experience using software systems such as: Bulk Mailer, Colormax, Versa Works, Micro Press, Job Master, Fiery, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook and Publisher), and Adobe preferred.
  • Ability to learn new and/or advanced printing technologies, with appropriate training required.
  • Two years’ experience in a printing position strongly preferred.
  • Highly organized.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Two years’ experience within the IAM and/or an Associate’s Degree preferred, but not required.

This is a bargaining unit position. Starting salary is $39.41 per hour and includes a generous, comprehensive benefit package including employer paid family health care and defined benefit pension.
