The presence of firearms on college campuses will be incredibly dangerous. Not only do guns pose a direct threat to the lives of students and faculty, but they also contribute to an environment of fear and anxiety that undermines the educational mission of these institutions.
When students are forced to worry about the presence of concealed weapons in their midst, they are less able to focus on their studies and engage in the free exchange of ideas that is the hallmark of a college education.
